Lions Lose on Thanksgiving......Again

The Detroit Lions played the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day and lost 34-31. The Lions cam out of the gate fast taking a quick 7-0 lead on a Leshoure two yard run. After the first quarter the Lions were up 7-0. In the 2nd quarter the teams traded off touchdowns. Foster had a six yard TD run for the Texans and Stafford threw a five yard TD pass to Thomas for the Lions. The Texans scored again on a nine yard pass from Schaub to Daniels for Houston just before the two minute warning. The Lions would score 22 seconds later on a 22 yard pass from Stafford to Johnson AKA Megatron.

The third quarter is the start of the Lions collapse that seems to happened every year and every game. After stopping the Texans on their opening drive, The Lions went down and kicked a field goal to go up 24-14. The momentum was on the Lions side and poof it was all gone. Justin Forsett of the Texans ran for eight yards before getting tackled, or that is what everyone in the whole world saw except for the seven refs on the field who must have been thinking about eating turkey. Forsett did not stop after being clearly down and ran for an 81 yard touchdown. Lions coach Jim Schwartz lost his cool and threw a challenge flag. The problem is all scoring plays are reviewed so by throwing the challenge flag, it negated the review. So a touchdown happened was not supposed to happen because the Lions coach does not know the rules and cost his team seven points. It's the same Lions that the world has known since the 60's.

After the four quarters the game was tied and went into overtime. The Lions opened up overtime with the ball and went 3 and out. The Texans drove down the field and missed a 51 yard field goal. Then the Lions looking like they are going to win miss a 47 yard field goal that hit the upright. The Texans go down and kick a 32 yard field goal for the win.

The score was 34-31.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz said it was his bad on challenging the play. Well no duh, man. Maybe if you wouldn't lose your cool all the time, the Lions wouldn't be losing their cool or in Suh's case, kicking quarterbacks in the privates.
